Who's Responsibility Is It Anyway

When you go to a networking event who’s responsibility is it to help you network? Is it the event organizer?  You?  Or someone else?

When you attend an event, any event you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people.  Often times I see women (and men too) who go to events and crowd together with people that they already know.  What’s the point of that??  The point in networking, or at least one of the points is to meet business people that you have never met before. So why hang out with people you already know?

Once you are there it is then your responsibility to mingle around and meet as many people as you can.   If the room is crowded or people are sitting at tables you can still get up and go to different locations,  introduce yourself and ask for people’s business cards.  But if you find a spot and sit in the same location all night long who’s fault is it if you don’t make the contacts you were hoping to make?

Move out of your comfort zone and start stepping it up a notch at your next networking event and see if you don’t get different results from your networking efforts.  Let me know how it works out!
