What Are You Accomplishing?
The other day I was discussing productivity and time management with one of my private platinum clients. She’s a brand new client and after reading her application, I noticed that although she is quite busy she rarely gets anything accomplished. This is the difference between activity in your business and accomplishment in your business.
As small business owners we need to be keenly focused on our ability to get things done and not just on keeping busy for busy sake.
When you are engaged in activity you are busy doing things all day long. You may move from one project to the next busily working. At the end of the day you feel that you worked your butt off. This concept of activity can be seen in most corporations — especially where people are engaged in “meetings.” You’ ve probably experienced this yourself if you have ever worked in a job. Meetings where nothing gets done; that’s activity!
Accomplishment is something very different. When you are focused on accomplishment, you are super attentive on a particular project or task and you complete it in the time allotted or until it is finished.
Unfortunately, accomplishment is rather rare, whether it be in the corporate arena or in a small business. But those who accomplish stand out in the crowd; and those who stand out, succeed.
Those businesses that fail to accomplish will ultimately fail, or worse yet, will be nothing more than so many other businesses. Frankly, they will be mediocre.
Here are three strategies that I use to keep “accomplishing” in my business:
1. Develop A Marketing Plan: My marketing plan consists of my one-year strategy which is then broken down into quarterly objectives, monthly activities, weekly assignments and daily accomplishments. I learned this technique years ago when I had to write treatment plans. This is an effective way to get your plan into bite-size manageable action items that easily turn into accomplishments.
2. Schedule Everything: This is such an effective system. I schedule everything into my outlook calendar. Those daily accomplishments that I was referring to above are scheduled into my calendar. I work on those items first so that I’m always working on THE most important tasks each day.
3. Review and Repeat: At the end of each day, I review what I had on my plan and prepare for the next day. Sometimes this means adding daily accomplishments to my schedule that were not completed on the previous day. No matter what, I’m always focused and actively working on my plan.
4. The More You Get Done, The More Money You Make: When you are laser focused on what you want to accomplish and then actually accomplish it, you make more money. If you are wasting time, are unfocused and have no clear plan of how you will market your business, then you won’t be making the money you desire each and every month. It’s that simple.
If you’re thinking that this sounds complicated and time consuming, nothing could be farther from the truth. Your business requires strategy and planning. Remember the old saying, “Failing to plan means planning to fail.” The success of your business is at stake.
Don’t Get Stuck In Frustrating Five Figures
Each and every day I am lucky enough to impart extraordinary information to help my clients move from frustrating five figure income into six and even high six figures. Most of what I share with my clients is about the money mindset shifts one needs to make in order to be a successful entrepreneur.
Mindset in combination with using my keen intuition and facing my fears are the foundation for the success me and my clients have had in our businesses.
Now, just to be clear, mindset is more than just reading some fancy, squishy feeling affirmations every day. Your mindset is those deep rooted beliefs that you hold near and dear to you and would take an atomic bomb for you to let go of. These beliefs help you through all of your challenges both business and personal. Ultimately, your mindset helps you to make the decisions that change your life.
So here’s a list of mindset secrets to help you succeed in business and become that high six figure entrepreneur!
- Face your fears; never let fear influence your decision making ability
- Use challenges to spark your creativity and solve problems
- Never tolerate excuses from others or from yourself
- Believe “Where there’s a will there’s a way”
- Understand there’s real power in asking for help
- Knows that obstacles are a reason to strengthen your commitment to your bigger why
- Graciously welcomes new learning opportunities from teachers, mentors and coaches
- Know you can do, be and have anything you want

Print out this list and put it on your cork board or wall and reflect on the mindset secrets every day.
Business Challenge or Business Success?
Where there’s a will there’s a way! Have you ever heard that expression? I am sure that you have. I believe in that statement; I really do!
I am the type of person that when presented with a challenge, whether it be personal or business-related I always have several different options worked out in my head. It’s my Plan A, B, C strategy and it’s a strategy that I have used for a long time with great success.
Often times, in my travels, I will hear women speaking about how they want to invest in a coach, hire more help, invest in a training program or attend a workshop I think, “Great; this will really help them move closer and closer to their goal! That will really support her success!”
But when something doesn’t go exactly as planned I often hear those same women say, “Well, I guess that it wasn’t meant to be.”
WHAT?
You’re kidding, right? One tiny obstacle and your ready to throw in the towel? Come on…you would fight harder for that pocketbook you had your eye on in the store if someone was ready to pounce and take it away, but you will let one issue stop you from pursuing the goals of your business?
Let me tell you something…the universe is not conspiring against you and the universe isn’t telling you it wasn’t meant to be.
If you are serious about moving your business forward and having all the time, money and freedom you want, then read on to learn the three simple and easy tips on how to handle when you a wrench gets thrown into your plans.
Strategy #1 Realize That Every Obstacle and Challenge Is an Opportunity for You to Do Something Different
Remember my Plan A, B and C strategy? Well, it’s in times like this that I pull out that strategy mindset and start working on how I am going to make it happen. Often, when I am about to launch a new program or attend a really important event something will be thrown in my path that requires me to think and act quickly to resolve the situation and continue toward my goal. You can do the same thing. Don’t let something side track you into believing that you are not supposed to do what you set out to do. Just use your good judgment and find a way!
Strategy #2 Don’t Let Fear Stand in Your Way
Sometimes our decisions are so big that we let fear seep into our consciousness and that voice in our head begins to try to dissuade us from what we desire. We then mistakenly think this is a sign from the universe that it isn’t meant to be. That is hogwash…and quite frankly a smokescreen.
Remember that fear and doubt is never truth – NEVER!
When you begin to feel that doubt or fear, that is the time to stand true to your initial decision. When you connect with your truth it will help you to recognize why you made the decision in the first place. Learn to trust your intuition and don’t let fear and doubt cloud your ability to listen to your truth.
Strategy #3 Ask for Help
When obstacles present themselves, ask for help. I remember when I was first starting out in my practice I wanted to invest in a training program that was outside of my budget. I knew this training was what I needed to be doing in that moment. I asked a good friend if I could borrow the money and he said yes! Problem was solved and I got the training that I needed to move my business and goals forward.
People are often willing to help so don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it! Remember, where there’s a will there’s a way.
Every successful person has gotten where they are because they believed there was a way to make it happen. They didn’t let excuses, justifications, or problems stand in their way. Don’t let them stand in your way either! You CAN make it happen!
