How You Do Money Is How You Do Everything
How you do money is how you do everything.
I posted that in my money reflections section of my newsletter last week. I didn’t get one question or comment about it which I thought was kind of strange.
Could it be that everyone understands this statement? I honestly didn’t think it was possible that everyone understood the statement so I decided to write a piece today that digs deeper into the statement.
Because we live in a universe that is made up of energy it’s safe to say that money is energy too. Makes sense, right? Which means if this energy is everywhere and money is energy too, our relationship with money is a symbol of our relationship with everything in our lives.
When you work at improving one area of your life usually other areas are improved as well. So it’s safe to say when we improve our relationship with money other areas follow suit and get better and better.
So, how you do money is how you do everything.
Think about it this way…
- Do you feel like you ever have enough money? Do you have enough time?
- Do you have a tendency to waste money? Do you often feel like you are wasting your time?
- Do you know how much money you have in your bank accounts? Do you have an adequate picture of your physical health?
The goal here is to wake up and start recognizing where we are unconscious and to start changing our habits and beliefs to ones that better suit us. By doing so we can start to conduct ourselves and stand more powerfully in our lives.
Money and the energy associated with it allows us to do just that.
Are You Acting With Integrity When It Comes To Money?
When you enter into a contractual relationship with another person and then demand a refund when no refunds are clearly stipulated are you acting with integrity?
This just happened to a friend of mine. She has a line in all her contracts that clearly state NO REFUNDS. Yet she is often asked by people who either haven’t fully thought through the decision for a refund or from others who feel that just because they ask they should get one.
So how should you handle this sticky money situation?
Before I answer that question I want you to remember one thing: How someone does money is how they do everything!
Keep that in the back of your mind as you read on.
1. Avoid The Remorse
Often times people will have buyer’s remorse after they have purchased a product, program or service. Typically this remorse comes from fear. Fear that they just made a huge commitment either in themselves or their business. And, it’s this fear of moving forward that wants to then jump ship.
The problem is that’s not a good enough reason to ask or get a refund.
The fact of the matter is that if someone asks for a refund they are not honoring the commitment they made to themselves or to you. If they cave into the fear they are feeling they are just playing small – real small. And that’s never good for anyone.
2. If you give this refund are you standing in your power around money?
Probably not. Truth be told most of us don’t want to deal with the hassle’s that come when someone starts asking or worse yet, demanding a refund.
Sometimes giving the refund just rids you of the negativity that comes when people start demanding refunds and the associated bad behaviors.
But if you have clear boundaries and have clearly stated no refunds, then what happens if you renege on your own policy?
I know this is a tough question for many of you to answer. On the one hand you want to keep your customers happy but on the other hand you did clearly let them know that no refunds would be given.
3. Provide a Guarantee
Providing a guarantee is a great way to reassure your buyer. If you don’t offer a guarantee of any kind than it makes it more difficult for the buyer to make the decision to buy.
But more importantly, with a guarantee you are clearly outlining under what circumstances a refund will be given. It’s a great protection for your buyer and for you as well.
So back to the original question…do you give the refund?
Sorry, but that’s up to you to decide.
Start Thinking Like A Million-Dollar Business Owner
On the outside do you claim to want more money while on the inside you’re plagued with feeling unworthy to make more? Women harbor shame, blame and tons of pain when it comes to money. So if you’re suffering with those feelings, realize you’re not alone.
You can break free of your money dark side. And you know what? It’s surprisingly easy to do!
Here’s what I recommend to shine a light on the dark side of money. Try these three simple tips for yourself and you’ll quickly find yourself feeling more at peace with money…and bringing in more of it!
Tip # 1: Stop Thinking and Saying, “I can’t afford it.”
We all want a good deal! Heck, I seek out good deals all the time. But too much of a good thing can turn out to be not such a good thing after all. When you tell yourself you can’t afford something you are telling the universe that you don’t deserve to get what you want. If you really want something, then you must decide and take action towards what it is you desire. So stop thinking can’t and start thinking can!
Tip #2: Stop Giving Away Your Power with Money
I see women giving their power away with money all the time. You do it by undercharging, avoiding uncomfortable money conversations and situations, overcompensating by giving too much of your time away, scrimping, over investing in growth, and a slew of other disempowering behaviors.
Consider this: If you engage in behaviors that repel money, how can more money begin to flow towards you?
Next time you find yourself giving your power away with money I want you to ask yourself this:
As someone who is standing in my power around money,
how should I handle this situation and empower myself?
Tip #3: Stop the Negativity
We’ve all heard the stories about how awful rich people can be. They’re greedy, selfish, arrogant people only concerned with their money and themselves. But come on…rich people haven’t cornered the market on any of those bad behaviors.
You can’t aspire to something you despise. So the next time these thoughts pop up — and they will pop up — start thinking differently by asking yourself, “How do people with money contribute to the world? Then think about how you contribute good to the world as someone who has a lot of money and feel the shift.
Good Solid Money Habits Aren’t For When You DO Have Money; They Help You Attract More Money Right Now!
Don’t make the mistake of waiting to start thinking and behaving as a wealthy entrepreneur. Start thinking and behaving like one now, and the money will follow.

Mirror, Mirror Part Two
Last week I wrote a post and talked about how money is a reflection of what’s going on inside of you...a reflection of your own self worth.
Today I want to share with you the last two mirrors for you to reflect on.
1. When developing your packages do you overload them with lots and lots of your time, goodies, bonuses – so much so that in hindsight it’s way too much? Do yo feel you HAVE to offer so much or no one will buy from you?
Maybe you don’t overload your packages but you make yourself available to your clients morning, noon and night – sound familiar?
Then after you have given and given you feel resentful because you think you’re clients don’t respect you? And worse yet, you attract the worst clients in the world. They use and abuse you, demand your time and attention and are clients no one really wants.
If any of these scenarios sound like you then you are reflecting issues relating to what you feel you deserve. Your deservability is at stake here.
2. You make money, plenty of money. The problem is…you still don’t have any!
No matter how you try you just can’t seem to hang on to money. You secretly are ashamed of having more than you friends and possibly your parents. You have rollercoaster months whereby one month you bring in a ton and the next nothing hits the checking account.
Approval is really important for you and your approval button gets pushed alot when you money is reflected back at you in this way.
Now why am I telling you this? Because you want a money breakthrough so you can rid yourself of these thoughts, feeling and behaviors – right?
If you are looking for a money breakthrough then I encourage you to contact me today to learn about my new 2010 – 2011 Mastermind Program forming right now! Have You Ever Said This?
“My clients won’t pay more!” Have you ever said that?
I did… A long time ago before I started working on my money mindset issues, I used to say it quite frequently when I would start to even consider charging more for my services.
The fact of the matter is we never really know what someone is willing to pay for our services and we definitely don’t have the right to assume anything about our clients. And truth be told most, not all, will pay more for your services.
Now this isn’t true in all industries but it does hold true for some. If you’re a coach, consultant, or other service-based entrepreneur it will hold true.
But that’s really not the point. The point of the matter is what you believe about money and your ability to make more is what’s at stake here.
Change your mindset and you change how much money will flow to you. It’s really that simple.
Mirror, Mirror On The Wall…
Did you know how much money you make and how much you charge for your services is a reflections of your self worth?
It’s true.
I know for some of you that statement conjures up all sorts of feelings. And you know what, I understand how hard it must be to realize that the small amount of money you’re making is in direct correlation to your self esteem.
That’s a hard pill to swallow.
But it doesn’t have to be that way forever. You can do something about that money reflection that’s staring back at you in the mirror. You can change it!
But first I want you to consider a few things:
1. Do often offer discounts? Do you even offer them BEFORE your even asked? This type of behavior is often reflected in a person who has poor money boundaries.
You make an assumption that your perspective client can’t afford your services so you jump to discounting without having all the necessary information. Sound like you?
The reality is that if your services are seen as valuable to the client they will buy from you. But that’s another article.
Do you barter or trade? That’s another indication of poor money boundaries. Money needs to flow. When you barter you block the natural energy of money from flowing to you and back out again.
Please don’t barter, ok?
2. When was the last time you raised your fee? If it’s been two ore more years or if you raised your fees but only by some minuscule amount of money then you lack money courage.
You’re typically the person who likes your fees somewhere in the middle. You don’t want to be the cheapest out there, but you definitely don’t want to be the most expensive.
The bottom line…your afraid to raise your fees and because your afraid, you don’t.
Fear is your primary motivator behind every excuse you make for why your fees are they way they are.
Check back later this week as I reveal two additional money reflections and some tips for helping to conquer your money self-saboteur.

Maybe You Should Clean Up Your Office
The other day a networking friend invited me to her office so we could get to know one another better. When I walked into her office space I had to stop myself from gasping.
You see, this women’s space was a mess. There were papers strewn about, unfiled, even on the floor. She had dirty dishes and glasses on her desk, garbage overflowing from the can and there was barely a place for me to sit.
What came to mind immediately for me was. “If her office is a mess, I bet her money situation is a mess too!”
Now maybe your office space isn’t as bad as this woman’s but do you see any similarities? Could your office use a clearing and cleaning out? What about your finances, your wallet, and your bank statements? Are they in disarray too?
You see there is a direct correlation with how our offices and environments look and how we handle money.
If you office is in shambles I want you to make the commitment to do the following:
- Get everything off the floor. Nothing should be on the floor but your rug, furniture and your pets. So, if you have any other items on the floor put it in a big box and put it in the garage or attic.
- If you don’t have anything on the floor then I want you to clear out your bookshelves. Put all the crap that is lying on the shelves in a box and put that in the attic or garage too.
- Next, clear off your desk. You must be able to see your desk when you are through. Get rid of the junk, dirty dishes, old papers and pack it up!
Now, look around and feel the expansiveness that you have just created. By clearing out this clutter you are making more room for money. Isn’t that cool?
Next, I want you to tackle your money in a more direct way:
- Create a filing system and start filing your papers and receipts. Hate to file? Hire a high school or college kid or even a stay at home mom who might need some extra cash.
- Get your books in order. I once asked my client how much money she made last year and she was unsure because she hadn’t finished her taxes yet. Unbelievable I know, but I bet some of you reading this don’t know what you’ve made to date this year.
I know the balances in all my bank accounts and I can tell you to the penny how much money I’ve made so far this year.
- Finally, make sure all bills are current. Put a payment schedule together and start paying your bills on time every month.
The goal here is to rid yourself of any and all money drama that you’ve created and replace it with an environment which supports the flow of money into your life with ease.
Fear As A Mask
The other night I was having a conversation about, you guessed it: money. A dear friend was telling me how every time someone says “I can teach you how to make money in your business” she hears skeptical remarks like, “How do we know she makes six figures, she’s probably lying” or “Everyone says that and I don’t think it’s true.”
When I heard this, I was immediately struck with the idea that these people’s doubts were really their own self-doubt about their ability to make six figures. It was a projection of their own fear.
Fear that they can’t do it. Fear that they’re not good enough. Fear that they’re not worthy to make a grand sum of money. Fear they’ll fail trying.
The truth is unless someone is willing to show you their bank account there is NEVER a way to verify the accuracy of a statement like that. You know the old saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” So even if you think someone doesn’t make six figures, you really have no way of knowing for sure.
But that’s not the point. The point is if you want to make more money in your business or life you have to stop judging. You can’t aspire to have more if you are skeptical of others who claim to have it AND of how they did it!
You must choose to think in ways that support your happiness and success instead of ways that don’t. That’s the plain and simple truth.
Judging, masked behind fear, is definitely not a supportive thought pattern. So my advice: change your thinking about money so you can find the inner happiness that opens the door to greater abundance.
